History of the Coachmans Inn
The Coachman's Inn, originally opened in 1954, had always been Dr. Gordon and Sandy Steuck's favorite getaway. They loved the Inn and rejoiced when offered the opportunity to be the Inn's owners. Due to fortunate circumstances, Sandy met Karen Redmon, the current manager, and she has been with the inn for a total of 17 years. They both share the same vision: to create a guest experience that is a mix of well thought out accommodations and personalized service. The Coachman's Inn is the perfect blend of a traditional, Carmel inn with all of the charm and architecture along with the modern conveniences of a 21st century hotel.
Since the Steuck's purchased the inn in the 1990's, the inn has undergone three major renovations including one that just finished in 2010. The Coachman's Inn has a rich history -- but by staying there you shouldn't have to live with furniture from the "past." Sandy and Karen go on at least two annual shopping trips to update the look of the Coachman's Inn - whether it is new bedspreads or beds, chairs or tables or planters for the outdoor seating areas.
We hope that you enjoy your stay with us and make us a part of your history (and future) of visiting Carmel.
